HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Bitter cold temperatures have prompted the Huntington City Mission to fly their white flag this weekend.
The white flag lets homeless in the area know it is too cold to be out in the elements.
Whenever it gets under 40 degrees, the mission says they won't turn anyone away, even if they don't want to play by the mission's rules.
With single temperature digits, the City Mission is expecting a larger than normal crowd, so the Salvation Army on 3rd Avenue is helping with the overflow.

I have to admit, I am a firm believer that the majority of homeless are that way because of decisions they have made in their lives. I do not believe that anyone should starve or freeze to death, but in order tor receive help, you should be clean and sober.
