Charges Dropped Against Roane County Teacher Accused of Inappropriate Text Messages
Charges have been dropped against a teacher in Roane County accused of sending inappropriate text messages to a young student.

ROANE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Charges have been dropped against a teacher in Roane County accused of sending inappropriate text messages to a young student.

Investigators say Mike Brohard was texting who he thought was a 12-year-old girl, but it was actually the girl's mother -- making comments about the girl's body and calling her "sexy."

The Roane County prosecutor says they can prove the conversation happened, but the words are not enough for a conviction. There has to be an attempt to make contact with the girl.

All charges have been dismissed.

This is why we are innocent until proven guilty. Either put up or shut up. If the prosecutor really has evidence of this teacher doing something wrong, then prosecute him. I don't pretend to know the situation and, unlike some on here, realize that I'm not privvy to the whole story. He's obviously innocent if they aren't even going to take him to court and try to get a conviction. I feel bad for this man because his reputation has been ruined. It's a shame that his name has been plastered all over the news like this just for an unfounded accusation. This will undoubtedly follow him for the rest of his life and possibly ruin his career. He should really sue for slander. By the way, I totally agree with you, "wow", but I believe it was Duke's lacrosse, not basketball, team. I could be wrong though.

How old is this teacher 1st of all? Secondly, I really dont feel like I would be so quick to point fingers @ the teacher in this situation. Ive read incidents like this one before and seem to stay in the middle as far as picking sides. I remember being in middle school and having a crush on one of the teachers. While, an adult should have self control and know better, some seriously might have an attraction to a student. It seems gross now, but if they were both 10 years older there would be no issue. How did the teacher get the students cell phone #? And how do we know the student didnt text the teacher 1st? I've heard the way some of these middle school aged kids talk and seen how they act, they aren't so innocent anymore. And alot of underaged girls look more adult than I do and I'm 25. I just find it hard to get all enraged when none of us have seen any of the texts.

Yet the US has higher death rate for children under the age of 5 than western European countries with universal health care so is it right to stop abortion just to let kids die for lack of health care,seems to me as if we were against killing unborn babies then we would do something to make sure those kids when born would live longer than 5 yrs.

If you find yourself in wal mart more than 4 days a week, beware of the secret shopper man they have working for them. I first noticed him peering through the vegtables at people, then I saw him walking frantic through the store in circles. At first it freaked me out, then I realized what he was doing. Why in the world would they hire such a strange person. Well one night I was in there with my children and he approach me and started to strike up a conversation, he asked me why I was in the store so much, at this point I knew he was trying to scare me from coming back or shopping there as much, it really made me upset, because the bulk of my shopping is done there. Most countries health cares administration fees equal 5% the US is 11% why.Have you read the final plan if so tell me what part you dont like.Chances are if you work you will be covered thru work and we all know that ones who dont work are already covered thru one program or another that we already pay for thru taxes but the people who work and cant afford care right now are the ones that needs the help they are getting

Bottom line is insurance companies are in it to make a profit, so decisions are made for that purpose. If your employer said they may or may not pay you this week would you keep working? I believe this statement should have been qualified with a more accurate comment with a basis in fact... something like - "There is NO PUBLIC FUNDING of ABORTIONS in the Health Care Reform Bill." I expect better of WSAZ and I am disappointed.

My husband and I are both WORKING and COLLEGE EDUCATED who are struggling to pay other bills because of this electric bill! We are looking into alternate sources of heat like gas, wood or pellet stoves. It is just a shame that the state of WV would allow this to happen!

I learned the hard way that they aren't. I had to rush my dog to the Pet ER at 2AM after applying the liquid. The medication had entered her nervous system, causing her to lose muscle control. I now only purchased Vet approved flea control medication. The higher cost is worth the peace of mind. I am happy to hear the medication will be more closely regulated. Hang in there and they will be back. They like the social climate of a good bar. It can be had without smoke. And I would rather see 8 girls temporary out of work if it reverses the trend of being "in" to smoke to being "a loser" if you do and 10,000 young people choose against it who may have picked up the habit. At least now smokers still can go outside. If they don't give up this fight, it WILL become illegal. Then where will you be? The bar owner may want to decide whether to be smoke/non smoke. But what of the workers? With jobs scarce, they may not have the option of moving out of a smoke environment. But these workers have to be there, night after night, breathing the smoke from possibly a thousand cigs a night, whether they are smokers or not. Paying the price for your freedom. Take your smoking outside where it harms only you as you are the ones choosing it. Stop believing we have the right to force others to breathe it. That means your boss will save sooooo much money under his system he/she can afford to give you a big raise! Now if you pay $1000 dollars a month for your coverage, a 100% savings on that would mean you pay zero dollars; a 3000% drop in cost would mean what, your employer saves or gets back from somewhere around $3000 to $30,000 dollars? No, I am not making this up; I heard Obama say it. Great news. Why wouldnt anybody support Obamacare. Boy that Bush sure was dumb.

He has carried the water for Obama and Pelosi on this Obamanation healthcare bill from the start; he was one of the first to endorse Obama; he is largely protected by WV media, who refuse even to publish his office phone numbers in order that you can call and voice your opinion; Nick and Nancy's bill raises 10 new taxes immediately; gives no "benefits" for 4 years; will ration your care, will raise your premiums, will limit your choices. Sound like a good deal? If you possibly can, log onto the League of American Voters website and contribute to the ads they are running...hurry, do it now.
