HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A Huntington man is headed to federal prison on drug charges.
Roderick McNeal, 26, was sentenced 70 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute Oxycodone and for being a felon in possession of a firearm during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Huntington on Monday.
McNeal pleaded guilty to the charges in November 2009.
Prosecutors say that in March, April and July 2009, McNeal distributed cocaine base and Oxycontin to confidential informants working with authorities.
McNeal was arrested at a Huntington restaurant after investigators seized a quantity of Oxycontin, $5,791 in cash, and a 9mm pistol from him.
A subsequent search of McNeal’s residence revealed an additional 100 Oxycontin pills.
McNeal was prohibited from possessing a firearm by virtue of a felony forgery conviction in Utah in 2005.

I agree that pills as well as crack and meth are serious problems but please spare us the hypocritical ranting. I doubt this guy was a "big time" dealer, just a guy supporting his habit. The gun he had was probably not there to rob or kill people but protect himself against armed robbers because who would he call? the police? The drug war has cost us over a trillion dollars so far and we can't afford it any longer. The people on here throwing the bible around and hinting at their piety completly miss the point the bible is making. "Love God And love your neighbor as yourself." The bible also says, "I desire mercy, not sacrifice." Show mercy and you will be shown mercy. The last 3 presidents admitted to using drugs and if they were caught they would have never been elected. Are Clinton, Bush, and Obama bad people? No, they're just truthful. The drug war (prohibition) has failed find another way. Legalize, regulate, tax, and educate.
everyone keeps yelling about getting the drugs of the streets, come on people the drugs on the streets are there because there is big money for the feds, the government and all the "legal criminals" IF they were to really do their jobs, think about how many people would be out of jobs: the prison guards the probation officers, the judges the court appointed lawyers etc. Jails and prisons are big money schemes.
those who say that the will have to face God... dont forget that you too will one day face Him as well!!! how exciting for you, for you did nothing wrong in your life... you were such a great person!!! God would be so proud that you cast judgement upon someone and proclaimed that someone be executed (your desire for murder) if only the skeletons in your closet were revealed to the public, would you want the same judgement passed for your wrong doing "off with your head"; "execute him"; "stick a needle in his arm"; "thats not enough time"; "you will face God on judgement day"... may God have mercy on your soul as well!
