SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A decision on the future of Dow Chemical Technology Park is expected to be announced Wednesday.

Dow is expected to announce whether or not to donate the park to the state of West Virginia.

Gov. Joe Manchin has been working to get the property so it can be turned into an office and research center.

The plan has run into some trouble as talk about moving the state lottery commission to the site and annexing the park into the city of Charleston.

Both the city of South Charleston and Charleston have come out against the plan.

As a 30 year retired UCC employee, it is sad to see the final demise of the Carbide Tech Center. When Dow took over UCC I was informed that there would be a UCC presence in the Valley. There are no guarantees in life. The Valley has lost many hard working families, lost residents, lost tax dollars, good paying jobs, and a great worldwide chemical company (UCC). I hope that the Technology Park will restore some of what UCC did for almost 60 years.

I have an idea. Move WVU Tech. Two buildings have been closed because they are unsafe. The City of Montgomery and the Take Back Tech idiots have done nothing significant to help the students. Sadly, about the only thing that has improved is the football team; we actually won some games this year.
