FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Some academically gifted teens who graduate from high school a year early could get at least a portion of their college tuition paid by the state under a measure that cleared the Senate on Tuesday.
The Senate approved the measure 38-0. It now goes to the House for consideration.
The legislation would essentially shift state education funding that would have gone to the high schools of participating students to public or private colleges in which the students enroll. The measure limits the tuition coverage to only the first year of college.

How very... witty. I'm glad you feel that my ability to use phrases beyond "I love coon huntin' and beer" makes me a nerd without friends (quite the opposite from reality, I might add, but you're free to indulge in your ignorant fantasies). It's that kind of stupidity that has lead this region into the social and economic squalor that it is in at the moment. I'm glad to see that we have people like you to drive out the academics and keep our region in the state of poverty and stupidity it is currently in.

JUST CURIOUS, your statement is a clear display of ignorance. Intelligence does not go hand-in-hand with monetary stability. As one of the top students in my department and a student who has a near flawless GPA, by your logic I should be perfectly fine and likely have money left to squander, while in reality I spend my time struggling to pay bills and tuition. Aside from personal matters, if you bothered to consider the higher levels of competition for the academic grants that are given out only to the "smart kids," you'd see that it's less likely for a higher-end student to get the money you seem to think they are receiving due to another smart kid being more qualified for the grants. In reality, the smart students are just as likely to have the same financial troubles that your poorly-labeled "dumb kids" have.
