HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – An early morning fire damaged two homes in Huntington and sends one man to the hospital.
Firefighters were called to the 2700 block of Highlawn Avenue around 1 a.m..
The fire started at 2721 Highlawn and spread to 2723 Highlawn.
Huntington Fire Marshal Dave Bias tells WSAZ.com that it appears the fire started in a crawl space in the rear of the house at 2721 Highlawn.
The house suffered significant damage. The cause remains under investigation.
Bias says several people were home at the time of the fire.
A neighbor tells WSAZ.com that the homeowner, Bruce Ervin, was taken to the hospital. He is listed in fair condition at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
The fire spread to 2723 Highlawn where it was contained to the rear of that house. Bias believes several people were in that house, but there are no reported injuries.

Oh and by the way the rebel flag is a battle flag It does not represent any certain race or any racist view as some people would like to belive. Also my prayers go out to the families.
Hey Mike , for your information I grew up on the 2800 block of 4th ave and let me tell you this was a fine neighborhood when I was there. I know things have changed over the years but there are a lot of good people still there and you should probaly look around were ever yo go and you will see that some of the same elements that you discribed are right there also. Dont condem a whole area just because of a few bad seeds.
My heart goes out to the family of the fire. But the fire could have been a lot worse if HFD didn't respond fast has they did.
