UPDATE: Mom Guilty of Murdering Infant Son Sentenced to Life; No Parole
Prosecutors in Gallia County say Kansas Grube, 25, killed her son in February by thrusting a bottle in his mouth, causing his head to hit the arm of a couch.

GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WSAZ) - A mom found guilty of killing her infant son will spend the rest of her life in prison.
Last week, Kansas Grube, 25, Gallipolis, was convicted of aggravated murder and child endangerment in the death of 2-month-old, Jaxson Grube.
Wednesday, Grube was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole during a hearing in Gallia County Common Pleas Court.
During the hearing, Matthew Grube spoke for his deceased son.
According to the Gallipolis newspaper, he told that court that, “I ask, no I beg the court, not to look at Mrs. Grube as a mother, not to look at her as someone’s wife, not to look at her as someone’s daughter but to look at her for what this court has proven her to be and what she really is: a murderer.”
Prosecutors say Grube killed her son in February by thrusting a bottle in his mouth, causing his head to hit the arm of a couch.
She called 911 later and told dispatchers that Jaxson was cold to the touch.

GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The trial of a woman accused of killing her own infant son has come to an end.
The jury returned a verdict of guilty of aggravated murder and endangering children.
No date has been set at this time for when Kansas Grube will be back in court for sentencing.

GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WSAZ) --The trial of a woman accused of killing her own infant son is now in the hands of a jury.
Prosecutors in Gallia County say Kansas Grube, 25, killed her son in February by thrusting a bottle in his mouth, causing his head to hit the arm of a couch.
She call 911 later and told dispatchers that Jaxson, 2 mos., was cold to the touch.
The case went to jury Friday afternoon following closing arguments.
Grube is charged with murder, aggravated murder and child endangerment. Her trial began Wednesday in Gallia County Common Pleas Court.

UPDATE Wednesday 2/24
GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WSAZ) - A Gallia County Grand Jury has indicted Kansas Grube on murder charges.
During a hearing Wednesday in Gallia County Common Pleas Court, prosecutors tell WSAZ.com that Grube pleaded not guilty the grand jury charges of murder, aggravated murder and endangering children.
Earlier this month Grube, 24, called 911 to report here 2-month son, Jaxson, was not breathing. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
According to the original criminal complaint filed by the Gallia County Sheriff's Office, Grube admitted to being aggravated and "forcefully" shoving a bottle into Jaxson's mouth and then forcing his head into the arm of a the couch.
The complaint also indicates that she placed the child on the couch and five hours later could not wake him.
The autopsy revealed two bilateral skull fractures resulting from inflicted injuries.
During Wednesday’s hearing her bond was set at $300,000. If she makes bond, she will be on home confinement until her case comes to trial.
Grube remains in the Gallia County Jail.
UPDATE 2/16/10 6 p.m.
GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- “Gallia County 911, what’s your emergency? My baby isn't breathing or moving -- I think he's dead."
And when the ambulance got 2-month-old Jaxson Grube from his Gallia County mobile home to the hospital last Friday night, he was pronounced dead.
In a video arraignment, the infant's 24-year-old mother Kansas Grube said very little as she was charged with murder.
In the 911 call we hear her saying, "He was in the living room with me, asleep."
But sheriff's department investigators found a back story. In the criminal complaint, Kansas Grube said before the 911 call, she was aggravated with the baby, and forcefully shoved a bottle into Jaxson's mouth. She also said she forced his head into an arm of the couch. The autopsy revealed two skull fractures resulting from inflicting injuries.
Sheriff Joe Browning told us her actions with the child were consistent with either being slammed down or struck with an object.
The sheriff and family members also say Kansas Grube comes from a broken home and is probably drug dependent. They say she possibly has mental problems. The sheriff says at this time, the infant's father is not suspected of any involvement in the baby's death.
Grube could get 15 years to life if convicted of murdering her infant son.

GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The criminal complaint filed in Gallipolis Municipal Court sheds new details on the death of a two-month-old baby.
24-year-old Kansas Grube is charged with the murder of her son, Jaxson.
The infant was pronounced dead at a Gallia County Hospital on Friday.
According to the complaint filed by the Gallia County Sheriff's Office, the infant's mother admitted to being aggravated and "forcefully" shoving a bottle into Jaxson's mouth and then forcing his head into the arm of a the couch.
The complaint also indicates that she placed the child on the couch and five hours later could not wake him.
The autopsy revealed two bilateral skull fractures resulting from inflicted injuries.
During a court hearing Tuesday afternoon, Kansas Grube's bond was set at $1-million. Her preliminary hearing is set for February 23.
ORIGINAL STORY
GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A mother is accused of murder after her two-month-old son was found dead.
Kansas Grube called 911 Friday evening. Sheriff Joe Browning tells WSAZ.com that in that call,, Grube said her baby, Jaxson, was cold to touch.
The 911 call also indicates the child' father was performing CPR during the call.
Emergency crews responded to Grube's home on State Route 218 in Clay Township and found Jaxson unresponsive.
EMS transported Jaxson to Holzer Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Sheriff Browning also tells WSAZ.com that the autopsy results indicated trauma to the child's head.
Kansas Grube is being held at the Gallia County Jail. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
Another child in the house is staying with family members.
