UPDATE: Driver Dead After Crashing Into Salt Truck
For the second time in a week, a salt truck has been involved in an accident on I-64 in Carter County, Ky. This time, it proved deadly.

CATER COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- According to the Fayette County Coroner's Office, the man involved in a salt truck accident in Carter County has died.

Mark Abdallah, from Blacksburg, Va., died Wednesday morning at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.

Kentucky State Police say Abdallah tried to pass a semi truck -- pulling into the path of a salt truck.

He was first taken to St. Claire Hospital, then transported to UK Medical Center.

He was 23 years old.

CARTER COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- For the second time in a week, a salt truck has been involved in an accident on I-64 in Carter County, Ky.

Kentucky State Police say that the latest crash happened around 1:00 p.m. Monday in the westbound lanes near mile marker 155.

Troopers say the truck was hit after the driver of a car tried to pass a semi and pulled into the path of the salt truck.

The driver of the car, a 23-year-old man from Blacksburg, Va. was hurt and taken to the UK Medical Center in Lexington.

The salt truck driver was not hurt.

Last Wednesday a vehicle rear-ended a salt truck near the 174 mile marker in Carter County.

Several people received minor injuries in that accident.

Both salt trucks belonged to a private company under contract to KTC for snow removal operations on I-64.
