Vinton County, Ohio, Lifts Level Three Snow Emergency
A snow emergency shut down Vinton County roads for more than eight hours as conditions worsened Tuesday night. Meanwhile, overworked road crews need a break.

McARTHUR, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Did you ever hear of a doctor's excuse for snow? It's not quite the same thing, but the Vinton County Sheriff's Department did have notes on hand Wednesday for people needing an excuse as to why travel was off limits.
A Level Three snow emergency was in effect from 9:24 p.m. on Feb. 16, until 5:13 the following morning.
Level Three means all roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be out during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary. Those traveling on the roadways may subject themselves to arrest.
The letter, signed by Vinton County Sheriff's Sgt. Carolyn Brown, reads, "all state, county and township roads were snow and ice covered and extremely slippery."
The Level Three emergency was lifted before Wednesday's morning rush hour.
