RALEIGH COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Snow days are adding up faster than the snow for school districts all across the region, but in Raleigh County the amount of time out of the classroom is causing major concerns.
This school year, Raleigh County Schools have had 14 snow days and nine days where they have let out early or come into school on a delay.
In Beckley, they have received more than 100 inches of snow this season making it the snowiest winter on record there.
Now school leaders say having this many snow days is a big problem, because the students are missing out on valuable classroom time.
School leaders say there are some make-up days built into the calendar but not enough to make all of missed days up.

Why do I have the feeling that the same people complaining about all the snow days in Raleigh County are the same people who complained even threatened to sue the Board for not getting the schools out early on the first big storm we had on December 18? You can't please everyone. Remember, the board makes its decision based upon the safety of the children.
I don't think that criticizing each other is very helpful. The students NEED to make up their missed education. It's not about days missed, but missed education. For students to graduate and be competitive in this world they need as much education as they can get. I would much rather have my child make up what they have missed however/whenever they need to make it up. I want my child to learn as much as he can. Let's face it, not everyone can home school their children. I have a 4 year college degree and I don't think I could teach my child at home.
Right on to Pubic School. I is proud to says i is a graduate frm s a good old Kentuck school! I am verry proud of it tooo.
