CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The woman along for the ride the night Charleston Police Officer Jerry Jones was shot and killed was sentenced on Thursday.
Natasha Light was sentenced to the maximum of 15 years in prison. She will be eligible for parole in three years.
Light pleaded guilty last year to an accessory count of fleeing law enforcement resulting in death.
Light was never indicted on the charge, but agreed to plead guilty if the prosecution dropped forgery charges she was facing before the police chase and shooting.
Light was in the car with Brian Good the night he and Officer Jones were killed.
During the hearing, Light apologized to the Jones family.
"No apology will every justify," Light said.
Light also told the court she has made mistakes and bad choices throughout her life because she was addicted to prescription painkillers.
The family of Jones says they are pleased with Thursday's sentencing.
The widow of Jerry Jones, Samantha, spoke at Light's sentencing for the first time publicly.
"I am truly disgusted to be in your presence today," Samantha Jones said. "If you were a law abiding citizen you would not be sitting where you are now."
Jones said Light's actions were selfish.
"I hold you equally responsible as Brian Good," Jones said. "I am now a 25-year-old widow."
She also recalled the night she learned that her husband was killed, saying she knew something was wrong when she saw police and her pastor at her front door.
Jones said Jerry was not only her husband but her best friend.

the post by anonymous on 3/7 is one i totally agree with. anybody that would defend natasha light - or her hubby or the Good man that caused the entire car chase causing his own death and that of a policeman - must also be criminal minded and addicted to drugs. Closure we on Campbells Creek hope to not see natasha light or her hubby for 15 years at the least.. of course there are others like them but little by little they are also getting justice, but sad thing their little children are growing up to act just like they did and take their place as thieves and thugs in the area - on and on it goes by msdalton..
I think Samantha did a wonderful job at the hearing. Light is truly a piece of scum and Samantha shouldn't have to be in the same room with her. Light was a part of Jerry's death with Brian Good, and I hope that she spends those 15 years, and all of it! In my opinion that isn't enough for what she has done. Her apology clearly ment nothing and thank god Judge Bloom seen past her lies. God Bless Samantha and the rest of Jerrys family. Also God Bless the CPD. Hopefuly this brings some closure to all of them. By the way any of you who support Light or Good, you really need to open your eyes to see the damage they have caused, because they both are scum of the earth.
by MS Dalton - Did anybody realize that when NATASHA pled guilty to the accessory of causing a death that she had 17 charges dropped and that JUDGE Bloom did tell her to stay clean and sober and get a job while awaiting her sentencing. Bloom would not let JONES, PLANTS - the Jones Family or anyone tell him the proper sentence. HER THUMBING her nose at him and having a dirty drug test sealed her fate. SHE CHOSE to plea to what she thought would give her the less time in jail. Jeremy even got up to 20 years and he wasn't charged with accessory to causing a death - she would have gotten more time on the other plus had to pay restutition to the banks, credit card companies and law abiding citizens she stole from. SHE FELL flat on her face and yes - it was a long time coming. BOTH her and her hubby should learn from being in prison and not get hooked up with chips on their shoulder, blaming how they got treated in prison to make them even more of a hardended criminal and drug addicts.
