Portion of Kanawha Boulevard Closed for Riverfront Construction

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A portion of the Kanawha Boulevard closed on Monday to allow crews to finish construction work at Haddad Riverfront Park in Charleston.

The boulevard is closed between Capitol Street and Court Street.

The closure will allow crews to work on street scape improvements near the riverfront and install a fabric canopy over the park's amphitheater.

The construction is expected to last through the end of May.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A portion of Kanawha Boulevard will be closed on March 1.

The closure is expected to last through the end of May has been planned to allow contractors to work on street scape improvements near Haddad Riverfront Park and install a fabric canopy over the park's amphitheater.

The closure was supposed to start Monday, but the cold, snowy weather has forced crews to delay work until March.

Now the City is threatening to ticket pedistrians who exit the Shanklin Parking Garge on the Court Street side while the Boulevard is closed. Charleston is darned unfriendly to the folks that come to town to work and contribute to its economy -- they treat us like criminals!

waste of money. If it were more like Charlotte and brought in bigger names and bigger crowds, I could see it. But then the bigger crowds would be paying for it. Not the 99.9% of people that don't actually go to those mediocre at best, so called, concerts.

we do not need a roof on the river. who goes to these things anyway, like 12 people.
