ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A major pot bust in Ashland on Thursday.

Ashland Police say they arrested Nicolas Tapia, 45, on a marijuana trafficking charge after getting a call from U.S. Postal Inspectors about a package being mailed to him that contained nearly 18 pounds of marijuana.

Police say the package was sent from Port Isabel, Texas, which is located approximately 20 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border.

Police arrested Tapia at his Providence Hill apartment after he took delivery of the package.

They say the seized marijuana has an estimated street value of approximately $20,000.

Investigators say inside Tapia’s apartment they found additional marijuana along with drug paraphernalia. These items were seized along with Tapia’s vehicle.

Tapia is being held in the Boyd County Detention Center.

It is hard to realize that Nicolas did all this. he was quit and hard working, but there was a a dark side to him that I couldn't trust. the police should check into the owner of Providence Hill. that is who sent him up here to work.
