ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- One church made sure some very special people had a weekend they wont soon forget.
Gateway Christian Church didn't leave any piece of prom out. From hair and make-up to a red carpet with screaming paparazzi, it was a magical night for some special needs kids and adults, who often miss out on main stream activities like school dances.
Regina Abare is a Gateway Church member, who also happens to be a hair stylist.
"My daughter is in middle school, she gets to go to these little dances but they don't get to do it."
Mary Coyne is from Cross Lanes. Her daughter Penny got to enjoy the prom, on her birthday.
"We don't go to church here, but they invited us because my daughter works for Goodwill, and they invite all these kids who never get to go to things like this, it's such a wonderful thing."
Between dancing, karaoke and dinner, the memories made Sunday night, were priceless.
Josh Sharp is a youth leader at Gateway. He says the smiles, and making people feel special is what it's all about.
"It really really warms the heart, it's almost indescribable the feeling you get you know thats how much God loves us," Sharp says, "to give that love back to other people feels really good."

Toney, comment on the drug dealing teens or the teens arrested for assault or any other crime. These kids obviously made a lot of people happy. They did this out of love. Shame on you for focusing on what they were wearing. Look at thier hearts and you will see a giving spirit not focused on themselves but on sharing God's love with others. From what I have seen they do a lot of things for the community and missions. Why would you disparage these young people? I say GOD bless them!
Give me a break Tony, wow. Did you watch the same video that everyone else in the Tri-state watched? These teens and church had a wonderful and selfless event for special needs individuals and had nothing to do with simple entertainment for teens. If this is considered a "carnal affair", in your book, that makes me sad.
It's so sad that churches are turning to the carnal affairs of the world. Dancing and low cut prom dresses are things that the church used to preach against, but it looks like this church is more interested in entertaining the youth than saving their souls
