PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A restaurant that has been providing service in the Kanawha Valley for decades is closing its doors.
The owners of the Wellington's of Scarlet Oaks say their last day in business at the Scarlet Oaks Country Club in Poca will be March 27.
The decision to close the restaurant came after Christmas when the owners saw their worst holiday sales ever.
The country club where it is located is looking into finding another restaurant to fill Wellington's spot.
Nearly 30 full-time and 10 part-time employees will lose their jobs when the restaurant closes.

I think the recession hits everyone. People can't afford to go out anymore. If they do go, it's something cheaper. Here our Legislature and Governor are trying to find new and old ways to tax us some more. Open for business huh?

We've always had excellent meals there, but I think they could have done a little more in the marketing department with advertising. If they want the public to attend their Holiday events, they need to actually let the public know about them. I waited and booked a party for the New Years Eve event, the day before, because I had no clue they were having it at all. It was just on a whim I decided to call and check, and I was suprised to find out they were. I don't know if this was a last minute decision, but their website wasn't updated with the information at all. That alone likely hurt sales, as so many people check websites and social media sites for updates on events.
