CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A bill that will allow the central offices for the State Higher Education Policy Commission and the Community and Technical College System to move to the Dow Technology Park has cleared another hurdle.

The bill passed the House Finance Committee on Monday and had been passed last week by the Senate.

Supporters of the bill say moving the two commissions to the tech park would help create a significant research and educational complex at the South Charleston site.

City of Charleston officials say if the bill becomes law, they will fight it in court.

THINK , THINK ABOUT IT . A COMPANY BASICALLY GOING TO PAY YOU $10 MILLION TO ACCEPT 238 ACRES THAT THEY ARE GIVING YOU. YOU DON'T SEE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE, NO YOU PROBABLY DON'T.

Why does the state need that much property? If it cost Dow $10M a year why and how is the state going to do it for $1M a year? This makes no sense but I have a feeling it's a way for the state to force WVU Tech to move since the first time it was tried it didn't work. Shame on Manchin and others for wasting state money for a maybe.

Why can't Charleston attract its own prospective businesses, instead of trying to deny the relocation of state activities into facilities that provide a better future and superior service to the state? The conitual threats to bring litigation seem childish and self-serving.
