Charleston Honors Retired Officers
The Charleston Police Department took time Tuesday to honor its living, retired African-American officers who dedicated their lives to law enforcement.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Charleston Police Department took time Tuesday to honor its living, retired African-American officers who dedicated their lives to law enforcement.

According to a news release, the ceremony was in celebration of black history month.

Seven officers were honored Tuesday, along with their individual accomplishments.

Retired Officers Honored
Chief Dallas Staples
Capt. Richard James
Lt. George Henderson Jr.
Sgt. Ivin Lee
Sgt. James Johnson
Sgt. William Hart
Corp. Willie Brooks

congats to the retirees! my father was a policeman in charleston and worked with all of these officers, and i hav known most of them my whole life. they are all very dedicated people. let's just hope that the city can organize something to honor all of the retirees.

Dallas Staples stated that he hopes the city officers don't have a "us against them" attitude. It's the black community that continues that division-don't listen to what they say-watch what they do. Listen to their music, i.e. rap, watch black church leaders cry racism when a black person is arrested, regardless of the crime they commit-even after convicted in a court of law. Personal responsibility-never!!!!
