CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The owner and publisher of The Country Times newspaper in Clendenin is taking the town's recorder to court over allegations he isn't complying with a Freedom of Information Act.
According to court documents, Sug Sams claims she provided town Recorder Robert Evans with the FOIA request on Feb. 9.
Sams wanted copies of all W-2 forms for Clendenin employees, a list of salaries for city officers and an inventory of weapons used by the police department.
She says that Evans has refused to provide City Council a financial statement for six months and pay raises have not been presented to council for approval for the last two years.
Sams has filed civil action suit in Kanawha County Circuit Court against Evans to force him to make that information public.

If there was nothing to hide then Evans would've given the information requested in accordance with the law. Anyone who doesn't think a lawsuit should have been filed obviously does not care what is going on in the town. This is why there are laws in place like this because its immoral to conceal this kind of information to the public. Checks and balances people .. geesh.
Christina....there is no other agency that has this information. They must get it from the town. If the town doesn't give it up, a lawsuit is the only way!
