UPDATE @ 9:50am
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The suspicious package that was found at the University of Charleston turned out to be nothing unusual.
A university spokesperson tells WSAZ.com a woman's jacket was found inside that box.
Sheriff's Deputies say a cafeteria employee found the small box wrapped in brown paper around 7:00 a.m. Friday in the women's bathroom on the second floor of the Geary Student Union. The employee called Charleston Police and they requested the bomb squad from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department to help investigate the incident.
Investigators say there was a student's name on the box, but the employee didn't see it. The university plans to follow up with the student to see why the box was in the bathroom.
As a precaution, the university closed the Geary Student Union until they got the all clear from investigators.
A majority of students on campus say they are glad the university called in the bomb squad.
Kyle Schuyler is a UC Student who says, "I'm glad the school took inatiative to make sure our safety was well kept," Schuyler says, I just think it's a little funny now. If you think of it, sure, it was scary in the begining but you find out it's a jacket it's a big joke but I'm very glad the school took the inatitive to do that."

UC has more problemsas well UC doesn't pay it's employees well. When raises are provided they are minimal and you are lucky if you even see the raise on your check. Then there is the issue of discrimination in pay.....when you do the same job but someone hired on later with less responsibility is paid more and there is no justicification in the salary paid to that person. Then of course, the employees have to pay to park when their salary is so low. UC has a high turnover rate in employees. I guess this says it all. UC has some great employees and they have lost a lot of great ones. Their is discrimination going on at UC.
UC is a laughing stock to the residential life here, as for the 70 parking tickets in a 3 hour span, that guys gone... Let us not forget that not only are the students a priority when it comes to safety, but how about UC staff?? They were just told to get out, not sent to a warm gymnasium, but to one of the connecting buildings where the seemingly suspicious package was found... Shows how UC administration treats the hand that feeds and cleans up after them...
what's this world coming too everyone in fear because of the national media
