ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Keeping children safe. As a daycare instructor, it's just one part of Susan Conley's job.

"Based on what we see ourselves on the news and TV, we have to make sure every thing's topnotch by making safety number one," she says.

This week, Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway announced a new statewide program called Kentucky Kids Alert. Thousands of Kentucky childcare facilities will receive information about children's products recalled by the Consumer Products Safety Commission.

Across Kentucky, approximately 1,500 childcare facilities have an e-mail address on file In Frankfort. Those childcare centers automatically will be signed up to receive the alerts.

"It just makes sense," says Jane Conley, who works at Ashland Child Development. "Safety is our number one priority. Anything we can do to make a safer environment for our children is going to be beneficial for all of us."
