HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- For cookie lovers, this is the best time of the year.
Tractor trailers dropped off Girl Scout cookies in Huntington early Friday morning.
Samoas, Do-si-dos and Thin Mints taste good, but they do more than feed your sweet tooth. Girl Scout cookies help pay for volunteer programs in the community.
"We actually have a group of girls going to Italy and Switzerland next year with the Girl Scout Council so they may be using the funds from their cookie sales for their trip," Amanda Fellure of the Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council said. "There are lots of different opportunities and that's the biggest thing about it -- it's more than a box of cookies because you're creating these opportunities for these girls."
In West Virginia, the Samoa is the most popular cookie -- the Thin Mint comes in second place.

Hey Whitt..Do you really think Jamie Oliver matters compared to Girl Scouts??? NOT in Huntington he doesnt. However, no girl scouts came by our office again this year. Isnt there any girlscouts in downtown Huntington anymore? If so, please post where we can buy cookies. Lots of cookies!!!! ( never go to the mall.I am thinking Krogers? Foodland? Anywhere?) Thanks so much...Former Brownie/Girlscout
Girls will be selling cookies at area businesses through mid-March. Troops will be at the Huntington Mall every Saturday in March. You can catch booth sales at Chick-fil-A in Barboursville every Thursday 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. in March in the drive-thru.
Anyone know of locations Girl Scouts are selling cookies without having to have placed an order?
