COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- State health officials say complaints filed against businesses for violating Ohio's smoking ban are dropping, a sign that more bars and restaurants are following the law.
The Dayton Daily News reported Sunday that since enforcement began, the number of complaints has dropped from 21,604 in 2007 to 9,228 in 2009.
The newspaper's analysis showed that over three years, about 3,300 complaints involved businesses in Montgomery County, which includes Dayton. Only Cuyahoga and Hamilton counties have had more complaints.
Ohio is one of 19 states with full smoking bans in workplaces, restaurants and bars. Bans take effect later this year in Michigan and Wisconsin.

I agrees with Anonymous & K. There's just a decrease in "complains" not smokers smoking in establishments. The VFW throw the "Ban" out the door not the smokers. And if you don't like the way AmVets in Jackson is being operatored, stay out of there. Your CHOICE unlike smokers who are told we have no choice.
to Jackson Countian: you are a snitch and a tattletell. As a USArmy vet, if cigarette smoke was the worst thing MY gov't exposed me to, I would be grateful. As for private businesses, if you don't like their policies - LEAVE! May I show you the door? The owner (and you) are on private property. The owner takes all the financial risks and pay for their permits and taxes. It is a business, if they thought it deterimental to their business they would change their policy or suffer the repercussions. Noone makes you stay. Thats's like saying if you come to my house and don't like cig smoke that I can't smoke. You would definitely know where my door is! (and probably the size of my boot - I hope it doesn't take surgery to remove it!) I don't come to your business and tell you how to run it to suit me. I would simply take my business elsewhere. Grow up! Don't we have more pressing problems?
Does the government have nothing better to do, than to pick on smokers? What about the drunks? Nothing is never done to them, until they kill someone! I am a non smoker, but I for one am tired of it being such a crime for people to smoke a cigarette! There are bigger issues going on in the world than to worry about where people are smoking at!
