ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio. (WSAZ) - It looks like there may be teacher trouble brewing in the Trimble Local School District.
Members of the Trimble Local Teachers Association have just rejected a proposed new contract.
It happened Wednesday, according to a news release, and the vote was unanimous.
The news release goes on to say, "the Association is committed to return to the negotiations table with the hope of reaching an equitable resolution in negotiations for a new contract."
The union bargaining team will be contacting a federal mediator to call the parties together.
But Trimble negotiator Garry Hunter suggests that might not work.
He says the rejected contract was "the Board's Final Best Offer."
And he says the school board will have a special meeting Tuesday "to discuss the situation."
The current contract for teachers in the Trimble Local District expired last summer.

To david. Fire all the teachers...yeah..then we would have an entire area of uneducated welfare people. Alot of People that post would fit right in. I have 6 years of college and 2 associates degrees and can find work easy god pay also . So whats that tell you. I love that teachers are so dedicated and care so much to educate us for so little pay.. Why don't you try it... wait you have to have an education first..
My wife is a 4th grade teacher. Just let me tell all of you teacher haters on this forum. We struggle to pay our bills just like everyone else. We have a small house and only one car payment. She doesn't get paid through the summer like some of you think so she has to have her pay check stretched out so she will get a check through the summer. She has to be a parent to others children because they are not one. Also teachers have to take constant criticism from the ill informed public because they are jealous. She pulls at least 10 through 15 hours a week of her own time grading papers, doing lesson plans and other stuff of that nature. How many of you would take your work home and do it for nothing. Teachers also have to get so many college hours in a year just to keep there license. That is also paid out of pocket. You all need to stand up for your teachers because they have a very demanding job.
Figure a Masters degree then supplies Most teachers pay for. Yeah 9 months but, most teachers have summer jobs to account for low pay. Benifits.. teachers pay a large precentage of those. Teachers have co-pays that are going way up, tell me medical card have co-pays or go up. Welfare even get a cost of living increase, Teachers have to fight for what they get. Now sit back and think how much you would have to pay a babysitter if you worked 40 Hrs. a week, around 180.00 a kid times that by 52 weeks a year $9360.00 do you pay that out of your pocket lazydog? That is only 1 kid the education departments have 20-30 kids per class nowdays, and let me tell you, teachers don't make 1/3 of that...
