JOHNSON COUNTY, Ky. -- A threat of alleged gun violence put a Johnson County school on lockdown for a short time Thursday Morning.
Superintendent Stephen Trimble tells WSAZ.com that Johnson Central High School was put in lockdown as a precaution.
Paintsville Police tell WSAZ.com that a freshman at the school was taken into custody at his home Thursday morning.
Police say the student allegedly told several students on Wednesday that he was going to bring a gun to school and shoot people.
Police say they learned of the alleged threat after getting calls from several parents Thursday morning.
The juvenile has been charged with terrorist threatening and disorderly conduct. He is being held in the Boyd County Juvenile Center.
Trimble says the student had only been attending classes there for a few days.
He also says parents were notified of the threat through the district’s phone tree.

I find it odd that there are incidents such as this happened in many other schools around Kentucky...I have heard of other situations that have been swept under the rug and forgot about mostly in little counties such as those bordering Johnson...if a child is threatened there should be something done about it but in some cases I have heard of recently there hasnt been anything done...I dont understand this.WSAZ maybe you should check in to it and make it known to the public what is going on at our schools and on our busses...
So, if you understand that the law does not work, then why do they keep making more and more gun-free zones?
Hey Mr. Obvious: Just because there is a law that school zones are gun free does not mean that a gun will not make it to school. Look at the shootings that have taken place around us. Wake up, it could happen here as well as any other place. I'm also with the person that stated the information given out could have been handled better. You get an automated call saying something has happened and the school is locked down then when you call to see if your child is safe, you get told that there was a situation that required the lockdown but you're not told what the situation is, just too scary when you child is involved. Then my child comes home and tells me they were literally locked in their classes until the ordeal was over. I've heard several stories on what happened and I feel the parents should be told exactly what happened by the school system in case the boy does return. My son will be attending the high school next year but it makes me wonder if he'll be there with this boy.......
