FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A sheriff's deputy and volunteer firefighter has been arrested after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from a fire department in Fayette County.
Micah Felter was arrested Monday and charged with two felony counts of fraudulent schemes for allegedly over billing Oak Hill for fire services through the Oak Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
Investigators say the city may have been over billed by at least $375,000.
The firefighters would get paid for going out on calls, then Felter allegedly would pocket the rest.
He was released from jail on $50,000 bond.

Did anybody ever check the income tax returns for previous years? This just didn't start last week. It is hard times, not just for a few citizens, but for most all of us. Little children even look up to firemen and law enforcement. Not much of a role model are they?

I was an investigator for an insurance company in and around the Vegas area. I was put on a case to determine if the homeowner deserved funds for the fire he had at his resident which stemmed from a forest fire. To make a long story short this guy was a fireman and as I dug deeper I uncovered a little ring of this fireman and other fireman buddies that had been setting fire to state parks then getting paid ungodly amounts to go put it out! The problem was they were crazy and no one believed me since the fire fighter in question was dating the Mayors daughter and was a highly ranked fireman from all the self started fires he had put out prior. Needless to say I gave all the evidence I had collected to the Attorney Generals office so I could just leave before they chose to burn me in the next fire! I was threatened several times, so before you go thinking these fire fighters are all saints consider that there are always a bad apple in the bushel!
