CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Getting folks to visit the Kanawha Valley -- that is the hope one group has as they announce what programs they will help fund this year.

The Kanawha Convention and Visitors Bureau handed out money to help a lot of programs continue.

Officials say they are continuing their support for Festivall, Appalachian Power Park and the Clay Center because they have a huge impact on the economy in the Kanawha Valley.

Rick Atkinson says they have had a lot of requests for funding this year. Almost every request submitted to the board was accepted.

The only one that wasn't was from the Doo Wop car show. Board members say they will decide later on about whether or not to provide funding since the event is at the end of the summer.
