W.Va. Gov. Manchin Declares State of Emergency for 34 Counties
Flooding threatened by melting snow and forecasts of severe rain have prompted Gov. Joe Manchin to declare a state of emergency for 34 counties.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Flooding threatened by melting snow and forecasts of severe rain have prompted Gov. Joe Manchin to declare a state of emergency for 34 counties.

Friday's declaration covers most of the state except for parts of the southern coalfields and the eastern Kanawha River Valley. It activates West Virginia's Emergency Operation Center and remains in effect until April 11.

The state of emergency applies for the following counties: Barbour, Berkeley, Brooke, Cabell, Grant, Greenbrier, Hampshire, Hancock, Hardy, Jackson, Jefferson, Marion, Marshall and Mason.

Also included are Mercer, Mineral, Monongalia, Monroe, Morgan, Nicholas, Ohio, Pendleton, Pleasants, Pocahontas, Preston, Randolph, Summers, Tucker, Tyler, Upshur, Wayne, Webster, Wetzel and Wood.

i lost everything i own on the 13 of march but i got the most inportent thing out and that wae my family think u god now we have no home and we sit and wait on obama to sign a declaration so we can get help from fema so we could try to get our lives back to normal for our kids so please sign it 4 these kids

Because the ground was totally saturated by all of the snow that accumulated over the past month... When the rain hit there was no where for it to go...
