SCIOTO COUNTY, OHIO (WSAZ) - Alcohol and speed may be to blame for a fatal accident that happened early Saturday morning in Minford. That's according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
Troopers say Harold Hettinger Jr. was driving a pickup truck on Piketon Road about 12:20 a.m. when he drove off the road. His truck landed upside down in a field.
A passenger in the truck, Charles Newsome died in the accident. He was 19-years-old.
Hettinger was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center.
Two other passengers in the truck were treated at the scene for their injuries.

People, please, don't get on the internet where millions of people can read what you write, unless you know how to spell the words you write. It just show you ignorance. I know you had good teaches, but apparently, you didn't pay attention to what was being taught. Thank you concerned, for pointing out there were others involved in this accident who are in some way responsible for this tragedy. Is Mr. Hettinger still in the hospital or in jail or is he in hiding? We never hear the details after a few days or a couple of weeks have passed. Why is this???

To all of you voicing your opinion about Harold and Charlie. It was an awful accident. Hopefully Harold learn from this and not drink and drive anymore. He has to live with the death of a passenger and dear freind. But nobody is saying about the other guys in the truck What is their mind doing to them. They were drinking too. They was not driving but they are of age too. They was involved with an under age person also.

Our family is having an extremely hard time dealing with this. Charlie is dead & nothing can bring him back to us or fill the emptiness left inside our hearts. An accident is an accident, but when you choose to drink & drive, you are creating even a greater hazard. I remember when I was 19 & I thought I was invinsible, so yeah, Charlie choose to ride in the truck, BUT Hettinger is twice as old as Charlie was & he should have been more responsible. When you drink & drive, you take a chance on having an accident because your reaction time is impaired. I do believe Hettinger should be held accountable in the court of law for this accident & death. I DO NOT want this man out drinking & driving again!!!!!!!! Say what you want, but if he walks away without punishment, it will be no time before he is drinking & driving again, even if they take his license. It's a crime to drink & drive. If you do the crime, you have to be prepared to do the time. We love & miss you Charlie, FOREVER!!!
