PRATT, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- After a day of serious flooding, some folks in the eastern Kanawha County town of Pratt are dealing with lots of damage.
About 20 mobile homes were damaged, and in some cases water was as high as four feet inside the homes.
A woman in the area was rescued by a person in a canoe around 9:00 a.m. Saturday.
Many residents are just feeling lost about what to do next.
Some say the Red Cross has offered places for them to stay.
They are hoping the damage is bad enough to qualify for federal help.

It is easy for everyone to say not to help and if they do why go back in the same spot. Its easier said that done. Yeah FEMA helpes but only so much and therefore alot of people don't have the money to move to a diffrent house or land. It's sad, something needs to be done. They live by a creek not a river, and it's a few yards away so you would not think that it would flood that bad. It has only flooded 2 times in 6 years.

I think the person who said it was a waste with taxpayers money, I understand where your coming from. This has happened twice in a few odd years, in a row. Most of these people, rent, which I assume did not have renters insurance, or flood insurance, for the owners. FEMA has helped them once before, and yet, a majority went right back to that spot, knowing it could happen again. I think if they help them this time, it should be clearly stated, to find housing somewhere else, and not to return back to that area. Its awful what they have dealt with, but if its happened once before, why put yur family through that again? Its hard for people to understand all of this.

TO THE PERSON WHO PUT ABOUT THE TAX MONEY SHOULD REALLY THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING. SOME PEOPLE CANNOT HELP WHERE THEY LIVE. I AM SURE IF THEY COULD THEY WOULD MOVE BUT SOME PEOPLE MAY NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO MOVE. THIS AREA DOES NOT FLOOD ALOT THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN 6 YEARS. MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO EVERYONE WHO WHERE FLOODED THIS WEEKEND.
