ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- It was a team effort Sunday to help create a new home for animals in Putnam County.

Sunday, a team from the John Amos Power Plant, and one from the Putnam County Animal Relief Center towed the line to raise money for a new animal shelter.

More than 60 people came out to Venture Lanes to bowl.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported this effort. It was a great success and wouldnt have been possible without the great staff at Venture Lanes and employees of AEP, PARC, PRAY Construction, and members of the Apache Motorcycle Club. And especially Karen Haynes for her continuous efforts, thanks for everything!

I adopted one of my cats from the Putnam County shelter almost 10 years ago. She came as a stray and was one day away from being put down when I came and gave her a new home. I really hope that the shelter raises enough money to stay open and continue providing people with loving pets. I would love to help out and donate to the shelter, but I simply don't have the extra money. So, it's nice to see the community coming around and helping out!
