Hit and Run Suspect Sentenced to Prison
A driver charged with hitting a woman and then leaving her to die will spend three years behind bars.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A driver charged with hitting a woman and then leaving her to die will spend three years behind bars.

A judge sentenced Jenea Sherman Friday in Kanawha County. Sherman will get credit for time she's already served in jail. Three years was the maximum sentence.

In March, Sherman pleaded guilty to hitting Mary McCallister along the old Route 35 near St. Albans. The crime happened on July 15, 2009.

McCallister's body was found in a ditch along the road a few days later.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A driver who stood up in court and admitted to hitting a woman walking along the road and leaving her to die is expected to learn her fate on Friday.

In March, Jenea Sherman pleaded guilty to hitting Mary McCallister along the old Route 35 near St. Albans. The crime happened on July 15, 2009.

McCallister's body was found in a ditch along the road a few days later.

According to a court spokesperson, Sherman is set for sentencing at 2:30 p.m. Friday. She faces up to three years in prison.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A driver accused of hitting a woman with her tow truck and then leaving her to die will learn her fate later this spring.

Jenea Sherman pleaded guilty Monday to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a death. As part of the plea agreement, a misdemeanor charge of driving on a revoked license was dropped.

Investigators say Sherman hit Mary McCallister along the old Route 35 near St. Albans back in July.

Sherman took off and McCallister's body was later found.

Sherman is set to be sentenced on May 18. She faces up to three years in a correctional facility and/or a $5,000 fine.

3 years for murder 3 years, this is wrong on all levels and whoever this prosecuting attourny is and the judge need to go this ladie was driving on suspended operators and kills a person,our court system is trash and i think after seeing how they do i believe the people who are in possition to punish they to should go to prison for failing to do justice,i am sorry to the family of the decieced and hopefully this ladie will get what she deserves

Josh I agrree with you someone needs vote the so called Judges out people are getting away with murder three years is bad, think about how the person that got hit family another case no justice. the judge should be thrown off the bench and tried for 1st degree stupidity
