CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The high water along the Kanawha River has stalled work on a new stage at Haddad Riverfront Park in Charleston.

Assistant Mayor Rod Blackstone tells WSAZ.com workers have stopped work on the new stage at the riverfront park because it is still under water.

However, workers are still working on a streetscape project along Kanawha Boulevard.

Blackstone says the water has to recede so they can see what kind of damage the flooding caused before they can get back to work.

The contractor that is building the stage and the new canopy over the park will be in town this week.

The city will have a meeting later this week to see if the flooding has caused any delays to the project.
