HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A 16-year-old student at Huntington High School has been arrested and charged with making terroristic threats.

Huntington Police Capt. Rick Eplin says the male teen was arrested following an investigation into a threatening text message that was circulated at Huntington High on Tuesday.

Eplin says the investigation determined there was "no overt threat or apparent intent to carry out any type of violent act” at the school.

He says a search of the juvenile’s home did not reveal anything that would be cause for concern.

Eplin says due to the unnecessary concern that such an act causes, the juvenile was arrested.

The teen has been released to custody of his parents.

Cabell Schools Spokesperson Jedd Flowers says he expects disciplinary action to be taken against the student.

I had tried to add a comment that this isn't the first time a student in Cabell has been arrested on this charge...it happened in Nov. of 2009 at Midland. The student was 18 yrs. old is the only difference. But people want to make HHS out to seem like it is a horrible school and has problem no other school has. HHS is just closer to the city of Huntington and the media has always, since it opened, made sure that everything negative was printed about it. Did the school over-react? No, because the law is the law and if it wasn't reported, parents would be upset that nothing was done, or if something had happened and they didn't report it, parents would be furious, so they did do the right thing. They protected the rest of the school from a possible tragedy. Should the parents be held accountable? According to the law, yes, they are responsible for their children 100% of the time. Even when they aren't with them. They may be raised in a wonderful home and it doesn't mean it won't happen.

Hmm, right in line with the juvenile justice report that says our system overreaches. Administrators need to get a grip, do you know they actually camped out in front of students home to see if they in deed lived in the district. Seriously? The place is a horrible.
