CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The heart of the city is often the pulse of the community. However, a bustling downtown area doesn't happen overnight.

That's why the state of West Virginia started the ON TRAC program and has chosen to carry it into a second year.

In Charleston Friday, Governor Joe Manchin announced the four communities that will be part of this year's initiative:

- Parkersburg, Wood County
- Parsons, Tucker County
- Mt. Hope, Fayette County
- Wheeling, Ohio County

Those communities will get special attention that's designed to help build up the area's infrastructure and draw in more businesses and tourists.
