UPDATE from 6pm Newscast
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Some neighbors worry that the fatal stabbing of Clifton Miller is part of a Detroit drug war.

While police aren't ruling anything in or out yet, there's a concern over more possible retaliation.

Neighbors say the incident started out with a domestic violence call just after 2 a.m. Friday. Next door neighbor Bake Wysocki says he saw what police reports confirm -- that an early morning fight involving two men and a woman spilled out of a home along 20th Street and into the street.

A part of stories like this that we don’t usually hear is the heartbreak of families after losing a loved one to violence.

Clifton Miller’s family talked about life after death, for a stranger. Part of Miller will live on; he was an organ donor.

On Friday morning, his heart was transplanted into a seven year old who has been on a waiting list.

"Congratulation to that family, even though we lost our loved one, their child can live," says Tasha Miller, Clifton’s sister. "I’m glad to see his heart is living through someone else."

Tasha Miller says her brother inspired her to change her driver’s license and become an organ donor.

Close friend Andre Sappington says, “It didn’t surprise me he wanted his organs donated. That was part of his character.”

One life lost and another one saved thanks to an organ donation -- it’s a choice the Miller family hopes others will make.

Police say the two men -- Clifton Miller and Nathan Lansing -- were taken to SOMC.

A SOMC spokesperson says safety concerns involving many family members arriving sparked a rare hospital lock down for nearly two hours.

Miller later died of his stab wounds.

About seven hours after the fight, the same house - unoccupied - burned. It is under investigation as an arson.

Neighbors say they've seen car and foot traffic at the house at all hours.

"We didn't know if it was drugs or what," Wysocki said.

Other neighbors who did not want to be identified expressed similar fears.

Around noon Friday, a person of interest in the arson was arrested driving north on U.S. 23 toward Columbus and Detroit -- likely fleeing from the scene in an identified car.

Miller's jail record shows drug involvement.

And police say Lansing is a suspect in Miller's stabbing death, but they say any possible criminal charges demand further investigation and a grand jury presentation.

Police aren't releasing the name or whereabouts of the woman involved, saying they fear possible retaliation.

ORIGINAL STORY
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- One man is dead in Portsmouth after a stabbing that happened early Friday morning.

Portsmouth Police say a domestic altercation started in the 1900 block of 20th Street. Two men and a woman were involved.

Police say 32-year-old Clifton Miller was stabbed and later died at SOMC.

Another man, Nathan Lansing, was assaulted, but police say it wasn't with a knife. Police say he is a suspect in the stabbing. He told police he was involved in a fight with Miller, but did not admit to stabbing him.

The woman involved has been identified, but police are not releasing her name at this time.

Around 7 hours after the stabbing, the same home where the stabbing happened caught fire. The woman that was involved in the domestic altercation lived in the home.

The Fire Chief and State Fire Marshal are on the scene and are calling the fire an arson investigation.

Shorlty after the fire was reported, police say that a red 2010 Chevy Impala with West Virginia plates was seen leaving the area.

Friday afternoon, Police say the driver of that car was located in Pickaway County, Ohio. Police call the driver a person of interest in the case

Randy Yohe will have the latest on this story tonight on First at 5 and 6.

I knew Clifton for a real long time, and from what I know of him (and will always remember)he was always happy and free spirited. The fact that he was an organ donor is telling of his TRUE character-when it was all said and done he did what most of us never think to do (continue to give life, when ours is gone). He was a kind person. No one person is perfect, and no one deserves to die at the hands of someone else. Stabbing a person multiple times is NOT self defense-it's MURDER. Facts remain untold, intentionally or otherwise-but the bottom line is the truth has yet to be revealed. I've been trying to not let his death bother me, but the truth is I'm PISSED. He didn't fall out of the sky to this Earth with no one caring for him. His family deserves to have the matter resolved justly. May his soul rest in peace!
