Elliott County Bank Robbery, Arrest Made
A State Trooper says the man showed a handgun, demanded a large amount of cash in big bills and left on foot.

SANDY HOOK, Ky (WSAZ) -- A man has been arrested after allegedly robbing a bank at gun point.
Trooper Joe Veeneman with the Kentucky State Police says 28-year-old Derek Wheeler from Sandy Hook was arrested Monday.
He is accused of going in the First National Bank in Sandy Hook, shortly after 10 Monday morning, with his face covered with a white bandanna. Veeneman tells WSAZ.com that Wheeler showed a handgun, demanded a large amount of cash in big bills and left on foot.
A Sheriff's Deputy recognized Wheeler and chased him on foot. He was caught a short time later and arrested without incident.
The handgun was recovered, as well as an undetermined amount of cash.
Wheeler will be held in a Carter County jail.

Yeah Kudos to the county and state police. LOL If you guys really want a pat on the back why not solve some of the murder cases in Elliott County.

the fact is the judge will not give the sheriff department money to run it. Ronnie has a had time getting his salary let alone anything to fight crime. He even has to buy things that he needs for the office out of his own pocket.
