COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio is about to start ticketing motorists who violate the state's law requiring most children from ages 4 through 7 to ride in a booster seat.
The law went on the books last fall, but officers were to give only warnings during the first six months. That grace period is ending and penalties kick in Wednesday, including fines of up to $75 for a first-time violator.
Having a child not riding in the required booster is considered a secondary offense, meaning police can write a citation only after stopping a driver for another reason.
Auto club AAA says booster seats allow adult seat belts to fit children properly and help protect them from crash injuries and deaths.

it's a shame that we need laws to make people keep thier kids safe. please educate yourself about children and airbags.
I think it's a good idea I see way to many children riding without their car seats or booster seat. I'm a mother of a 6 year and 2 year old and their safety is the most important thing. I don't think spending a few extra bucks is going to hurt anyone's pocket considering you could go to wendy's and spend at least 15 bucks for a couple of people on lunch I think this is a great idea Finally the government is doing something to really help protect our children!!!
I think its a good thing i as a father of 4 i see so many kids riding in the front seat no seat belts or anything on thats well under the age of this new law i wish they were allowed to pull you over and ticket you for not having your child in one instead of having to catch you for something else first thats putting your child in danger. some people just want to gripe the goverments taking more money when im sure there receiving plenty of it back through our welfare system.
