LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Prosecutors have filed notice that they plan to seek the death penalty in the murder case against former Kentucky lawmaker Steve Nunn.

Fayette County Commonwealth's Attorney Ray Larson said in a telephone interview Tuesday night that the paperwork was filed earlier in the day in Lexington.

The 57-year-old Nunn is accused of fatally shooting his former fiancee, Amanda Ross, outside her home in Lexington last September. Nunn has pleaded not guilty.

On Monday, a judge ruled that Nunn, a longtime lawmaker and son of a former Kentucky governor, is competent to stand trial.

I believe, as well, that a "lawmaker" should be held even more responsible when they become a "law-breaker". However, money still talks. Therefore, I feel the extra money spent on seeking the death penalty will be wasted millions of the taxpayers money. If theres a loop hole anywhere to be found the only one left hanging will be JohnQPublic.
