Ohio Seniors to Get Tax Break
Ohio's governor announces some tax relief for seniors and the handicapped.

During a visit to Ironton, Governor Ted Strickland announced some new tax relief. The state will exempt the first 25 thousand dollars in assessed value for property owners 65 years of age and older. This also includes people who are handicapped.
Those taxpayers will now save an average of 400 dollars a year on their property taxes.
Here's what Governor Strickland had to say.
"It is not means tested if you meet the criteria of being a senior citizen and you're a homeowner, you qualify. There's only one catch. In order to qualify you've got to sign up for it. And you've got to do it before October first."
Applications will soon be available at senior citizen and government centers throughout Ohio.
