HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- In an effort to continue Huntington's Food Revolution, Ebeneezer Medical Outreach has opened a new fresh market downtown. The market has everything from vegetables to fruits and even herbs to spice up your healthy meal.
"We're hoping to help people not only by exercising, but coming down and learning fresh new ideas inside your kitchen," Program Director Ashley Thompson said.
The market has already drawn quite a crowd. Many people who stopped by say this fresh new idea means better meals for their family.
"I think this is fantastic," Geanette Williams said. "It's wonderful you can get these fresh vegetables and items right here. I think it tastes better. It's better for you. The recipes just shine."
Organizers say they hope the convenience of a fresh market downtown gets even more people eating healthy.
"What a great way for our downtown employees and community people can pass by," Thompson said. "Oh my gosh, I don't have my head of lettuce for tonight's salad. Let me run down to Huntington's Kitchen and get it. So, it makes it easy for them to access."
In the next few weeks, shoppers can expect even more produce from local farmers. The fresh market is open every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in front of Huntington's Kitchen right across from Pullman Square.
