MOREHEAD, Ky (WSAZ) -- One judge is trying to make sure a petty criminal learns his lesson without putting a burden on taxpayers.
Casey McGuire was ordered to wear a sign that reads, "I am a shoplifter. I shoplifted from this store," outside of Slone's Signature Market Saturday and Sunday for four hours.
McGuire admitted that he stole a $10 bottle of cough syrup from Sloane's in January.
The crime violated his probation from an earlier, felony crime.

The grocery store where this happened is in downtown Morehead, just down the street from Morehead State. If this was a college student, I can certainly see where this would be appropriate and embarrassing because a lot of students and faculty are in and out of this store. This is also next door to Coffeetree books and Fuzzy Duck coffee, two of the best midday hangouts. Also, if this was on a Sunday around lunch, he was sure to see a ton of people because this store does an amazing boxed lunch from the deli. Kudos to the judge for picking a punishment that fits this city, this crime, and works for his jurisdiction.

What about the politicans that run for office and gets all that money from donations to help them win the election. They get in office and don't do what they promised to do,why can't we get them to wear a sign around their neck saying " I took all of your money and lied about what I said I was going to do." For example like this Unite program, getting all this funding from the gov't and the problem is twice as bad since they got all this money. Why don't they wear a sign, these people have took a lot more than what cough syrup costs.
