ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- It has been a month since the massive explosion at the Upper Big Branch Mine killed 29 miners.
The mourning for those men continues, and communities throughout our region are doing their part to help ease the pain.
Saturday, folks gathered at Roadside Park in St. Albans for a gospel sing.
Darrell Brightwell is the event organizer who says the focus is on the families.
"The message we're trying to give to the people is to support the families. If they were in the families' homes like I was last Sunday they could see the tragedy and what it's doing to the families and young children and everything," Brightwell said. "They need a little of everything so we're trying to help what little we can."
All donations from this event will go to the fallen miners families.

GOD BLESS YOU FOR THE GOOD THINGS YOUR DOING FOR THE FAMILIES.
Why aren't we doing something to help the people in Tennessee? Yes I agree the mine explosion was awful, but Massey has already agreed to make sure the families of these brave men are compensated. BUT those poor people in Tenn. have lost everything with NOTHING to replace anything with-- and if you're of fool mind and think FEMA will do anything- you might just be stupid! We all love our country music, it's city and singers-- how about we hold a benefit to help them?
