CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- In-state students at West Virginia's public higher education institutions won't see any tuition increases for the 2010-2011 academic year.

All the state's four-year and two-year public schools have heeded Gov. Joe Manchin's call for a one-year freeze on in-state tuition and mandatory fees. Some schools also froze out-of-state tuition.

The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission is scheduled to meet Wednesday to approve tuition and fees for all colleges and universities except West Virginia and Marshall, which set their own tuition and fees.

Last month, the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education approved tuition freezes for public community and technical colleges.

I just wish you only had to pay for what you used at Marshall. I have to pay $300 a year (plus more if you go in the summer) in recreation center fees. I don't use the rec. center and I don't want to. Before it was built, I always voted NO in the surveys. Stop giving so much free stuff (clothes, books, tuition, etc.) to the athletes, you will save money that way and make your student body a little less resentful. With the tuition freeze this year, it will just go up double next year to make up for it.
