ALKOL, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- From hail to high water, storms hit the region and left their mark.
Many areas reported quarter-size hail, and flash floods popped up in many counties.
Lincoln County, W.Va., was hit hard. Water covered many parts of Bulger Road near Alkol. In many areas the water had already receded but it left debris in its wake.
On Dog Bone road it was a similar story, water rising fast and then going back down almost as quickly.
"All of the sudden I hear thunder and lightening and then it started hailing," Janet Adkins says. "Then all the sudden it just started pouring down the rain and like in less than 30 minutes the water was in the road."
But even though the water went down quickly Adkins says it is making their road worse and damaging the bridges to their homes. She says the creek is spilling into their road more and more often.
For neighbor Jerry Hager, he's concerned about the safety of his disabled son. He says the water has washed away his bridge, making it unsafe to cross.
"Now that my bridge is completely it is impassible my main concern now is if there's a health issue an emergency what am I going to do except call an ambulance, that's my only option," Hager says.
Hager says the Department of Highways drove by Friday evening and told him they would return Saturday to asses the damage.
Heavy rain also caused problems in other parts of our region, including Cabell and Wayne counties in West Virginia and Boyd County, Ky.
There were widespread reports of flooding in parts of Boyd County, as well as in the Kenova and Spring Valley areas of Wayne County, W.Va.
Some homeowners also contacted WSAZ.com to say they had several inches of water in their homes. Many of those reports were in the Westmoreland and Kenova areas of Wayne County.
In downtown Huntington, the viaducts at 8th and 10th streets had to be shut down because of high water around 9 p.m. Friday.

well said Valley Guy. We try our best to keep the people of Ceredo and spring valley safe.
To Ceredo Fire Jr. : The problem is that when people are in such a hurry they don't care about any water depth. Too little care for life! Thanks to CFD for all you do for the Valley...
