CHELYAN, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Think back 22 years, what were you doing?

Sunday, the members of the Chelyan Church of the Nazarene took a look back in time. They opened a time capsule they sealed and stored away in their boiler room back in 1988.

Inside the sealed box, congregation members found a list of former pastors, a church roster, along with a proclamation from former West Virginia Secretary of State A. James Manchin.

John Spence is a church member, and Sunday he was a part of the opening.

"Opening up the time capsule has been really exciting for us. We've got a lot of memories. We've got a lot of friends who came back from 22 years ago, and it's just a whole lot of fun just to see what God has done then and what he's doing with us now," said Spence.

Sunday was made even more special because the man who lead the church two decades ago came back for the celebration.
