UPDATE 5/20/10 @ 8:45 am
ATHENS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Athens Mayor Paul Wiehl says the city has another big bill to pay for an unsanctioned block party.
Wiehl say the latest of the "fests" - Millfest - cost even more than Palmerfest.
The Mayor told reporters Wednesday that police and other expenses for last weekend's event is expected to run around $31,000.
The cost for Palmerfest was $26,000.
Palmerfest was shut-down by police in riot gear after fires were started in the street.
More officers were called in for Millfest and there were fewer problems.
ORIGINAL STORY 5/17/10
ATHENS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- 37 people were arrested during Millfest in Athens on Saturday.
The Athens Police Department made 11 arrests and state liquor agents made 26.
A city official says the crowd at the Ohio University student block party was "amiable" and "much more reasonable than" during Palmerfest the previous weekend.
Four house parties on Mill Street were shut down.
The city had said it was going to crack down on violations to try to keep the event under control after a very rowdy Palmerfest.

They were framed.
I think that some problems could be solved if ohio had a better transit system. If there were trains or buses to take people home then there would be less drunk driving.
Studets have no idea of the costs and dangers there are increasing during these fests! Out of control studnets throwing beer bottles, drinking and driving, the cost are ate up by tax payers for extra law enforcement to protect our community, ambulance workers who transport and outstanding amt of students to the ER for "Drinking to Much, Overdoses, Assaults of all kinds" so there is extra staff on call there also. There is nothing wrong with partying and having a good time, but you are adults now be a little responsiable, I bet all these parents are surprised when they are notified by school officials, law enforecement and hospital personnel that there child had a "FEW"beers! GROW UP AND ACT YOUR AGE!!!!!!!!!!!!
