PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Three men have been arrested on drug and weapon charges during a raid in Scioto County, Ohio.

Sheriff Marty Donini says that Friday afternoon, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit along with the Portsmouth Police Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 110-block of Boundary Street in Portsmouth.

During a search of that residence, detectives and investigators seized approximately $1,000 cash, a loaded .357 magnum revolver, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and documents.

Donini says officers arrested 36-year-old James Daniels. He is charged with two counts of trafficking in drugs (Oxycodone) and having a weapon while under disability.

The Sheriff say Daniels claimed he lived in Portsmouth, but possessed a Michigan driver's license with a Detroit address.

Also arrested were Ernest Holland, 39, of Detroit and Marcos Stepp, 19, of West Portsmouth. Holland is charged with having a weapon while under disability. Stepp is charged with violating probation with the Portsmouth Municipal Court.

All there men are being held in the Scioto County Jail.

This town has always been bad on drugs, it starts early with the kids, maybe preteens and man yof these don't live to see their twenties. I have heard of lots of drug busts in the past month and am amazed at the problem and not a bit suprised to hear of the michigan drug drealers all over. We are a poor town infested with drug abusers. It's sad but true. we have two main highways that lead into this town, 52 and 23...23 being the main pipeline, I think this solution begins with the highway patrol...and then county or city offices. We travel to lucasville for family, and see tons of out of state plates, and it's very stereotypical of us, but if we see a wv tag with young kids, or 2 black guys, we automatically assume, rental car, here dealing drugs..especially if dressed nice. Same with Michigan or Florida tags. I mean chances are, if they are entering lucasville from northern ohio, with out of state tags and only 1-2 younger people in car...They are here for "Their"business.

Thumbs up to the Portsmouth Police !!!! Another one off the streets... Now they need to go to Jackson Ohio and teach the police up there how it's done.

Those of you that think they are receiving some type of monetary money for disability may be wrong at least in the case of a criminal act. When it is stated "having a weapon under disability" does not mean social security or such it is a legal term. It means you have lost the right to own, carry or possess a firearm after you have convicted of a feloy such as drugs, alchol, mental condition etc. Go to http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/2923.13
