UPDATE 5/20/10 @ 6:30 p.m.
VANCEBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Pillbillies on a rampage, that's what many pain pill addicts call themselves - Pillbillies, with a "P". Deputies in Lewis County, Kentucky say a trio of hard core addicts are now in jail after a burglary spree and a dangerous high speed chase. A rampage that included crushing stolen cars for scrap money to get high.
Lewis County Sheriff's deputies say Brandon Shane Fannin, a convicted felon just out of prison, is suspected in a month long burglary spree. He's accused of stealing tools and equipment from country homes and fire houses.
On Wednesday, a tip lead deputies to Fannin. Deputies say he was driving a stolen truck and that led to a 60 mile, three county dangerous high speed chase that ended in a road block and gunpoint capture.
Dwayne Stone with the Lewis County Sheriff's department says Fannin was swerving to miss people, sending cars off the road and creating a life threatening situation.
When asked if he did not care about endangering lives in a high speed chase, Brandon Fannin responded:
"I guess I'm a gangster like that."
Deputies say Fannin was not alone. They tell WSAZ.com that Nancy Wilson and April Lightner were in the truck with Fannin and that they helped drive the likely stolen car Fannin allegedly used in the burglaries to a scrap yard. Deputies say they had the car crushed and took the scrap money to buy and shoot up more pain pills.
When asked, Nancy Wilson told WSAZ.com: "yes, I did that. Got $256 and pills are only $30 a piece, that's 30, 60, 90. I went pop pop pop -- I shoot them up."
Deputies say they plan make 4 to 5 more arrests in the burglaries.
Nancy Wilson and April Lightner are charged with receiving stolen property. Brandon Fannin faces additional felony charges of fleeing and evading police, wanton endangerment and multiple burglaries.
