CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Retailers and organizations seeking limited video lottery licenses could soon know how much the minimum bids will cost.

The existing 10-year licenses will expire June 30, 2011.

The West Virginia Lottery Commission has scheduled an emergency meeting Thursday afternoon. The Lottery's chief counsel, John Melton, says Lottery officials hope the commission will set minimum bid amounts for the next round of licenses.

The Legislature authorized up to 9,000 video limited lottery machines in the state. Gov. Joe Manchin has recommended that number be cut to about 7,500.

By law, the commission must complete the bidding process by next summer.
