UPDATE @ 7/23/10 3:00 p.m.
PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Jennifer Rollins may have a long road to recovery, but she certainly has the support of her community.
In June, Jennifer was walking along Grandview Ridge Road when she was hit by a drunk driver.
"We were just laughing and talking. The next thing I know my husband is over me telling me I've been in an accident," she said.
Police say Donnie Workman was the driver and took off from the scene. He was later charged with DUI.
"When he hit me, he threw me like 30 some feet and it knocked my shoes off," said Jennifer.
Jennifer was in critical condition for weeks and had to undergo several surgeries. Since the accident, she has been bound to a wheelchair.
"I can't even walk," said Jennifer. "It was a big day that I got to sit in a chair yesterday, a living room chair, and people take that for granted."
Despite all the pain she's been through and the months of physical rehabilitation ahead, Jennifer says she's not angry with the man that hit her.
"I should be dead and I'm not because I have two children and a husband that need me," Jennifer said. "If God spared me for a reason, why should I hate that guy?"
Jennifer's husband is not as forgiving.
"Sometimes the more I think about it, the madder I get. There's no excuse for what happened," said Aaron Rollins. "It's going to be about two months before her bones heal up even enough to attempt to walk."
People around the community have pitched in to make things easier for Jennifer and her family. For now, they are staying with her in-laws. With donated supplies, a group was able to build a wheelchair ramp and put down a new concrete sidewalk from the driveway.
"Even people that I don't know have helped our family. It encourages me to keep fighting through the pain I have," said Jennifer.
The Grandview Baptist Church is holding a fundraiser for Jennifer on Saturday, July 23. The benefit gospel sing will start at 1:00 p.m.
Also Saturday, a fundraiser will be held at the Rock Branch Independent Activities Building in Nitro. That event is from 5:00-9:00 p.m. There will be gospel groups performing, a silent auction, concessions and activities for the kids.

UPDATE @ 6/25/10 10:00 a.m.
PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Putnam County Sheriff's Department has arrested a man in connection with a hit and run accident Thursday night.
Sheriff Mark Smith says that Donnie Workman is facing charges of DUI causing personal injury, DUI first offense, leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a suspended or revoked license and improper use of registration.
Jennifer Rollins was walking with a group of women along Grandview Ridge when she was allegedly hit by Workman's pick-up truck, according to deputies.
According to the criminal complaint, Workman said he stopped and talked to a person on the scene and that they stated the woman was ok.
Rollins was found laying in a ditch when emergency crews got on scene. She was taken to the hospital. There's no word on her condition.
Sheriff Smith says that Workman left the accident scene, but a piece of his truck was left at the scene. One of the women walking with the victim also recognized Workman.
Deputies went to Workman's home and were able to match the evidence left at the scene to his truck.
This isn't the first time Workman has been in trouble with the law. He is a member of the Pagans motorcycle club and is facing federal charges for his involvement with the group.

AMEN !!! Chastity, let's pray for those that do not have the forgiving heart, that Jennifer's testimony of her faith in God will reach out to those that are unforgiving......I too pray for Donnie and his family for they are deserving of prayer also. Let us not forget what God tells us in Mark 11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses..no human is without trespasses. May God continue to bless Jennifer and her family...May God also touch Donnie and his family...
